A. Back ground:
During advent, church invites you to acquire, basic knowledge of Catholicism. Last sunday we were told, value of avoiding intoxication due to earth bound needs and 7 vices, unless you mange these 2, you cannot reflect properly,as to how Jesus came to this world and for what purposes.

Today you are invited to reflect specifically, the main purpose behind Jesus coming to this world? To reintroduce free Will, to human. God is now invisible, only with your focus on HiM and action for the love of him, you can enjoy Happiness in this world. In other words you have to willingly become a slave to HIM. Holy Mary+st Joseph+saints are good examples.

B. Preamble to today's reading:

B. 1 What is freedom
Sometimes you might think Freedom as: you can do what ever you want. That means you decide from your free will,and carry out action accordingly. But Freedom is always guided by law. When adam and eve was given freedom, they were told not to eat from forbidden tree.
Every human in this world is different to each other. They have been born with different talents!. Talents has to be developed to skills, then skills will convert to knowledge. With hard work, you will serve society in good attitude. This is one side of the story that you have to develop with your Free will.
Other side of the story is, in relation to outcome for an action. You cannot predict 100% outcome for any of your actions!. Always there can be some deviations.

After developing good attitude, when you serve society, for your own satisfaction, you will be disappointed, if you don't get the anticipated results, since you are not avail of 100% of your output.
But when you serve society with good attitude for the love of God, you know that HE will ensue your Happiness. What ever the output you will not get,you will not be discouraged.
When you do that, you automatically become a slave to God.

B.2 God's Will
How to find out God's Will for you?. It is a difficult task!. Read the following bible story, for us to understand God's Will!

Prophet Balaam was on a mission to curse someone,suddenly his donkey stopped on road!.no matter,how hard prophet kicked her,she would not budge. Without donkey He couldn't carry out his deed. He start to beat donkey severely,practicing management style of ruling thru' fear. Finally donkey cried out"why are you beating me?haven't I served you faithfully all these years? "An angel spoke to Balaam & said"you fool,quit beating her,even she could see I am standing here!your donkey just saved your life,for if you had gone you would have been killed" Balaam returned kissing donkey all way back. If you do everything possible & you are not successful,find out Angel without kicking donkey,since you are not avail with all outcomes. When you think that you are on top of world,you may be sitting in a dangerous place.

This story highlighted, how far our actions are result oriented!, how little we know about our results. When You are pleasing God, HE ensured your happiness, sometimes undermining your will.

B.3 How Joseph and mary followed God's Will?

Life of Mary and Joseph are best examples, of how we should follow God's Will

Mary and Joseph marriege is attachment of hearts, one in which the right to another was surrendered for a higher purpose.
Both of them had taken vow of virginity. Then why they married?

(1)it kept blessed mother covered with honor until the time came to her reveal the VIRGIN BIRTH/it appears shortly after resurrection (only she reveal),there is no point of talking about this until the final proof of divinity,

so far as public appearance went,JESUS was the Son of Joseph.
Thus the reputation of Mary was conserved: if Mary has become mother without a spouse, it would have exposed the mystery of Christ birth to ridicule, and would have become scandal to the weak.
(2) Joseph could bear witness to the purity of Mary. She did not tell Joseph,she has conceived by Holy Spirit of Love,because angel did not bid her to do so. Mary once revealed to a saint;
" outside Golgotha,I never suffered a such intense of agony as in those days when,despite myself, I brought worry to Joseph, who was so just"

Similarly, the sorrow of Joseph came from inexplicable
On one hand he knew Mary had taken an vow of virginity,as he has done. It seem impossible to believe her guilty, because her goodness. But on the other hand, because her condition, how could he believe otherwise? Joseph suffered"Dark night of Soul"

NO HUMAN KNOWLEDGE OF SCIENCE CAN EXPLAIN SUCH A THING

For God it is possible, but for human it is impossible. Mary and Joseph though they are humans, ideally supported God's Will. That is why we as catholics respect them,and always follow them!.

B.4- Straight path to God

To drive safely on road, one has to know the traffic rules. When you drive according to your own rules, your are liable for accident and people will suffer.
Major drawbacks that you can see in countries like Srilanka, is twisting God's rules to suit for your own convenience.
For example most of the catholics,worship parents/teachers/elders, undermining God. They don't say, that they undermine, but their action clearly indicate, they worship humans while respect God. This is a cancer that has to be treated urgently.
Few catholics, when they cannot manage their fear and sorrow, go for other religious treatment undermining God. This situation is gradually getting cleared.

This sunday you have to verify, God's rule and their meaning to you & practice, Then only you can go straight path to God,become slave to Him, for your own happiness.

Reminds:

with Jesus,God reintroduced
Freedom to all humans. After Jesus we find
(1)God is invisible
(2) Your free will become more dominant,on your own you decide what action you will take, for any subject.
(3) You can blame God, at your own wisdom
(4) From your own choice you can follow God's commandments to follow HIS Will
(5) When you follow God's Will, your life become happy.
(6)After Jesus, there is a straight path to God,by your own choice.

Conclusions:
To enjoy promised happiness by God, You have to know His basic commands; father-10 commandments: Son-pardoning+ love: Holy Spirit- church rules. First know them clearly without ambiguity. Then follow them. Don't try to modify the rules, for your wn convenience. Then you are not following a straight path with Him. To holy mary and Joseph, there were angles/dreams. But now you don't get those things. God will show you path, once you follow commandments+ avoid 7 vices.
In cycle 2 also, we were told to have a straight path with God. But next sunday we reflect, as how to baptise with spirit!

Cycle 2:
Mk (1:1-8) says .......MAKE HIS PATH STRAIGHT.....I HAVE BAPTISED YOU WITH WATER,BUT HE WILL BAPTISE YOU WITH HOLY SPIRIT"

Slave; someone who is legally own by another person(God) and works for Him for no money:

During this advent 4 sundays,church is inviting us to reflect about the basic features of catholism.
(1)God has reintroduced FREEDOM to all humans, after Jesus
(2)God is represented by 3 persons:(A)Father-mainly covers in old testament- explain about how God planned to reintroduce Freedom- action 10 Commandments (B) Son-mainly covers in
4 Gospels+new testament-ppardoning+love main messages (C) Holy Spirit-
Church rules upto to day+new testament
(3)How Jesus came in to this world?, role of Joseph and Mary!

Last sunday we were invited to have a peaceful mind(without craving to earth bound needs+7 vices) to study above all!.

A. Back ground: advent means coming or new arrival. In advent you concentrate, how you give birth to jesus in your life.(2nd coming of Jesus). Christmas day 1st coming to whole world.
Seed of knowledge has to be planted in your mind. What knowledge?
How God has reintroduced freedom to human beings?. What is the method HE adopted?.
(1) HE created human to be eternally happy with time, with full freedom.
(2) But betrayal of our original parents, fear, sorrow/death introduced to humans
(3)For remedial action, God chosen Jews, father directly instructed Jews, undermining their free will(like slaves), what to do. He even drop manna for their food.
(4) HE send HIS Son(/HE came) to this world, to show how to manage your life, without direct forceful instruction from HiM, so that any human in the world(not only Jews),can use his free will, like adam and eve,and enjoy happiness in this world. Son did not change 10 commandments, but he changed from "eye to eye" to "turn your other cheek"
(5)In order to mange freedom, without God's direct forceful influence, Church formed with Holy Spirit, HE changed, (1)church castles not only to jews(2) no circumspect(3)can eat pork.
(6) human life change due to various,technological advancements. Holy Spirit through church, guide us how to manage this paradigm change.(ex-No artificial birth control, no abortion, no Euthanasia) and HE showed us path to understand, difficult areas in Catholism, such as. Ex Mary's dogma's,saints,purgatory etc

In advent, you are supposed to convince your self (1) about father,under what conditions God, operates? (2) about son,what he showed us, how to manage
Our physical and mental worries(3)How Holy spirit show us to experience the living God concept, thru' church

Today, it summarized, as how to focus your attention about catholism in nut shell.

B. Preamble to today's reading:

B.1 the changes made by each person by Holy Trinity
(1) Father introduced Jews 10 commandments with "eye to eye"principle jews People were circumcised and they did not eat Pork
(2) Son, to same Jews kept same 10 commandments
But changed"turn your other cheek"
(3) Holy Spirit, kept same 10 commandments with "turn your other cheek" but changed, church is now open not only to jews, but to the whole world and no circumcision,and no restriction to eat pork.
(jews People were circumcised and they did not eat Pork,even Jesus+apostles)

(4) Living God concept: God is omni potent,omni presence and omni scent. You have option to understand and study about HIM or not. God changes the paradigm of people on one side. On the other side, he mange his real followers, how to accommodate this change, through church,thru' papal infallibility.
(5)So to follow God's will, one has to follow all commandments given by Father(10 comms),Son(pardoning+love), Holy spirit(church rules).

B.(2)Value of your Free Will
God gave freedom to Adam and Eve. Always freedom is subject to law. But they failed. Before giving freedom, God prepared people. He chosen Jews. In summary, through Jews HE, gave 10 commandments+pardoning and love to be practiced. After Jesus HE gave freedom to human. Jesus asked Mary+apostles to wait until Holy Spirit come to form the church. Why? Holy spirit will guide human, how to follow the commandments given by father+son, in an environment, where always paradigm changes. So Holy Spirit through Church provide you additional advices how to manage human life to follow God's will and enjoy Happiness.
At the very beginning, Holy Spirit, through Peter(1st pope) changed the rules(customs) adopted by Jesus+apostles to accommodate, universal(catholic) church. Ie: castles,no crcumscion+no restriction on pork. Until now Holy spirit, through respective popes given many guide lines+dogma's to adopt. Ie: theory of saints+Holy mary+purgatory, restiction on artificial birth control,abortion,euthanasia etc.
Living God concept exist through Holy Spirit via Pope, with regard to paradigm change.

Now your free will(ability to chose), you can decide by your self without any interference. You can reject God even or blame HIM or reject HIM. You are responsible for your own consequences. This is one side of your free will. Other side of the free will is that you can decide any action expecting a output. But you don't know 100% whether you can get that output. You might leave home, to go to office and return in the afternoon. But you don't know whether you can come home as anticipated. Only God knows!.

B.(3) Value of Catholicism

You should know where to Go, before making effort. Your efforts for a wrong direction,(which you are not aware) make your Situation worst. Sometimes, when you miss the plane,due to flat tyre in your car, might have saved your life. 100% outcome for your action you are not aware, only God knows. First Identify what is the God's Will for your action, then make your efforts. To understand the God's will for you,follow commandments given by Father-10 commandments: Son-Pardoning+love: Holy Spirit-present+future church rules.

Under God's direction,You yourself should make an effort. The Bible+church are only teachers. The meditative ones who follow the path are delivered from the bonds of fear and sorrow.

B.(4) Most safest way for a happy life

You know that you cannot 100% get a result for action. You are dependent with God for that. When you follow God's Commandments, God is please with you, so that you can always depend on him for your anticipated action, trusting HiM, that he ensure Your happiness.

B.(5) Is It In The Bible?
Church was formed by Holy Spirit,headed by Peter divinely appointed.process of appointing popes followed up to now. Church does not derive it's belief from scripture alone& it was spread in entire Roman Empire before single book of New testament was written.There were many martyrs in church before to Gospels or Epistles.An authoritative & recognised ministry was carrying on God's work at HIS command,speaking in His name as witnesses of what they have seen,before anyone decided to write a single line of new testament.Church believed in VIRGIN BIRTH then Gospels recorded it.Church is preceded to new testament. Memory of church is more than 2014yrs & is called traditions(laid down in apostles creed-note CONCEIVED BY HOLY SPIRIT,BORN OF VIRGIN MARY/Communion OF SAINTS).Gospel needs tradition as lungs need air. True christianity has to be from scriptures & continuous teaching of Church!.

B.(6) craving for your own possessions!
There are 2 types of cravings to your own possessions. Primary possessions! Every human in this world is happy to acquire -money,power(prestige) and desires. These possessions has to be balanced in your life

Other type of possessions are 7 vices-(anger,sloth,pride,envy,lust,avarice and gluttony). Without your knowledge you might conditioned to develop these vices.

Once you have cravings to these things, you are like an intoxicated person, forgetting your creator God.

Jesus teachings are paramount importance to reflect in identifying who is our God!. Today, church invite us to devote time to know about God, without going too much about earth bound cravings (power,Money and desires) and avoiding 7 vices.

All 3 cycles, address mainly same topic; How to give birth to Jesus in your life:

Today you are invited not to be intoxicated for your own cravings. For that you should know what are the cravings.

Factors we should know about our life!

(1) God knows our death time. No body has ever developed any medicine to avoid death. God given life from birth to death,has to enjoyed under the direction of God. For that the commandments that has to be followed has been given by Father+Son+Holy Spirit

(2) you don't know from which parents you will come to this world and you cannot decide at what time to come to this world (3) you cannot decide at what time your death is(unless you try to commit suicide!). Birth & death of a person is decided by the God, the Creator!. Today Jesus invites us to contemplate,how HE came as Jesus to this world. Devote time to study about Holy mary, Joseph and all associated with jesus,during his life, in this world

Sunday (29/11) Intoxicated Catholic-Brief Version

Today is the 1st sunday of the advent. Advent means coming. We know jesus came to this world 2015 years before. This is 1st coming of Christ. As a Christ follower, you should give birth to christ, in your life. This is 2 nd coming of Christ.

To understand yourself is the beginning of wisdom. When your life is guided by Jesus, you have to know what is catholism.

To know catholism, one should be clear how the information came to us and what are the outcomes of following Catholism.

Let analyse how this knowledge come to you?

Is it only from Bible?
Holy Spirit,formed CHURCH,divinely appointed Peter as head. Today his successor is pope Francis. Church does not derive it's belief from scripture alone &it was spread in entire Roman Empire before single book of New testament was written. There were many martyrs in church before to Gospels/Epistles. An authoritative &recognised ministry was carrying on God's work at HIS command, speaking in His name as witnesses of what they have seen,before anyone decided to write a single line of new testament. Church believed in VIRGIN BIRTH then Gospels recorded it. Church is preceded to new testament. Memory of church is more than 2014yrs & is called traditions(laid down in apostles creed-note CONCEIVED BY HOLY SPIRIT,BORN OF VIRGIN MARY/Communion OF SAINTS).Gospel needs tradition as lungs need air. True christianity has to be from scriptures & continuous teaching of Church!. can U ignore Church?

Now we know from what sources we can get knowledge of Catholism.

Now we should find out, what are the out comes to your life when you follow Catholism!
I.e Happiness with time.

In order to understand fully, one should be clear how God-son(Jesus) came to this world, the role of mary and Joseph. During this advent, you can reflect more on Holy Family, for you to prepare for Jesus in your life!.

Summary Of Cycle 2 Ordinary Times 34 Sundays

Purpose of sunday readings:
Catholic church has organised sunday readings to educate christians. There are 3 main readings for each sunday. 1st reading, 2 nd reading and 3rd reading. 3 rd reading is only from Gospels while 2 nd reading is generally from new testament writings from early church. While 1st reading is generally from old testament. All 3 readings are selected in such a way, to contemplate, one aspect of God, towards humans.

In order for you to understand,gradually about God and increase your faith, these sunday readings are organised in 3 yearly cycles. In order for you to get good knowledge of God and for you to develop faith, one has to carefully reflect sunday readings in all these 3 years at least once. The gospels of mark,matthew and luke are generally used for cycle 1,cycle 2,cycle 3;

You can study who is God(Father+Son+Holy Spirit) and how they created this world, why fear,sorrow and disagreements presence in our life and what is the treatment for that,etc..,in a cycle of 3 years.

God's hand
It is surprising to note, how these 3 reading sets have been selected to pass a God's message.(Some readings are connected with different paragraphs!
Thanks to St pius V and bl Paul VI in orgernising from 1530 and revising at 2 nd vatican council 1968.

Summary of cycle 2 ordinary times

One can get some idea as how sunday readings are organised, which might help to understand the purpose of sunday readings, from the immediate completing cycle 2, which ends 22/11/2015. This will be useful for any person, who wants to get an overview in the beginning of year 2018, when it starts the ordinary time.. Same idea will repeat in 2021,2024..etc.
2 parts can be deduced for the cycle 2 ordinary times sundays.

In my reflection,(you might have a different view), there are 2 parts of reflections for cycle 2:

Part 1

GENERAL CONCEPT OF CATHOLISM

Catholics,believe God created U different to others to live happily. For that U have to follow HIS Will. Church was formed by Holy Spirit to achieve your' happiness!.God extend this human generation thru' married &single vocations. Craving for earth bounds needs making U to sin which lead to fear &sorrow. Follow rules given by God,daily change to realize anticipated happiness. Disseminate your' happiness with neighbour. With Baptism you have become member of church. World is changing every day leading different paradigms for humans. God(Holy Spirit)thru' church direct humans, how to manage this change. Ex: No artificial birth control,no abortion, no euthanasia etc). Catholic believe presence of God,in Holy Eucharastic & sunday mass is obligatory for them. At mass,after verifying yourrself whether U followed God's will,U receive Eucharist.

Part 2:
HOW TO PRACTICE CATHOLISM.

(1)Start seed of God, by appreciating His grace in your' life(2)Make daily habit of encounter Him,start with analysing graces U receive+Rosary(3)Church run by Holy Spirit. Know all commandments that U should follow given by Father-10 comms/Son-pardoning+love/Holy Spirit-church rules upto to date(4)Reflect How your' following God's Will,in family-acting like child/in personal-ready to remove any possessions for God.(5)you have to convert your' talent to skills,by practising,then develop wide knowledge. By hard work,U contribute that to society, by forming good attitude,for love of God. when U encounter with God,under above 2,follow cycle of Plan,Do,Control,Amend (means changing U'rattitude-repentance) (to adhere to God's commandments)(6)Avoid 7vices,in your' life.(Sloth,anger,pride, envy,lust,avarice, gluttony)(7)daily enjoy Happy life(new twig).now your' seed of faith is becoming tree(repeat 5 above)
